What is an Ethereum layer 2?
A layer 2 processes activity outside Ethereum’s main execution layer and ultimately uses Ethereum in its settlement or security design. Each network has its own addresses, fees, bridges, and operational risks, so “built on Ethereum” does not make every interaction identical.
Three things to verify
- Confirm which network currently holds the asset.
- Use the project’s official bridge information.
- Verify contract addresses independently before approving access.
